Tracy Jordan, who graduated from Mercyhurst North East in 2012 with an Associate of Science degree in Nursing, was recently honored as recipient of the DAISY Award, an international program that rewards extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses.

Created in 1999, more than 2,400 healthcare facilities in 50 states and 14 foreign countries use the DAISY Award to honor nurses. Jordan was honored by Florida Hospital DeLand, where she works in the emergency department.

Prior to becoming a nurse, Jordan ran three group homes for mentally and physically challenged adults and children.

“Tracy is very creative and thinks outside the box to help drive care and reach our goals,” said Michele Lebron, Florida Hospital DeLand director of critical care, the progressive care unit, and nursing administration. “She is an incredibly hard-working nurse and exemplifies our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. She is a true advocate for the patients and families she serves, always showing kindness and compassion.”
