There’s something new on the menu as the Mercyhurst North East Culinary & Wine Institute begins its popular Spring Dining Series this Friday.
A new format, which allows guests to choose from several entrees, sets the table for future success in the field. For the students who plan, create and serve the dinners, the experience will be more like running a real restaurant.
Lunch will be served Fridays, beginning Feb. 16, and features four student chefs.
Bella Italiana will be served Feb. 16 at the Mercyhurst North East Stone Chapel Dining Room and April 6 at the Lake View Country Club. It includes: mixed green salad with homemade Italian dressing, choice of shrimp scampi or chicken alfredo each with homemade fettuccine pasta and herb-roasted tomatoes, and vanilla bean crème brulee with Italian cookie.
A Day in Provence will be served Feb. 23 at the Mercyhurst North East Stone Chapel Dining Room and April 13 at the Lake View Country Club. It includes: tomato Provençale salad with French vinaigrette, choice of petite sirloin with Chausser (Hunter) sauce or salmon with a sweet Dijon mustard glaze, each with roasted red pepper risotto and asparagus, and orange-glazed angel food cake with Chantilly cream.
Foods of the “Hill” will be served March 2 at the Mercyhurst North East Stone Chapel Dining Room and March 23 at the Lake View Country Club. It includes: French onion soup, choice of house-smoked ribs with hickory smoke barbeque sauce or vegetarian stuffed eggplant, each with wild rice pilaf and sautéed broccoli, and Watergate trifle.
Inspired by the Water will be served March 16 at the Lake View Country Club. It includes: Bruschetta trio, choice of bacon-wrapped pork loin with herbed cream cheese filling or crusted haddock layered with a muenster cheese, each served with dauphinoise potatoes and mixed vegetable sauté, and caramel apple trifle.
Cost for the meals is $9. Reservations are required. Please call (814) 725-6333 and leave your name, phone number, number of desired seats and any special dietary needs including a Lent-friendly lunch. View menu here.
