Residence Life

Home Away From Home

Going to class is only part of the college experience. Living on campus provides opportunities for students to make friends, learn about other cultures, gain independence, have fun and grow as a person.

The residence life staff at Mercyhurst North East seeks to provide the best accommodations possible for students and to provide a living environment that enables students to grow socially, culturally, and emotionally, while they grow academically.

Activities and Programs

Trips, tournaments and a cultural series highlight MNE's yearly activities calendar. With the help of a student activities committee, our residence life staff organizes a wide variety of ways for our students to interact with each other and the rest of the MNE community. You need only glance at the weekly activities calendar posted around campus to see that there's always something going on at MNE, including:

  • Christmas shopping in New York City
  • The Annual MNE Talent Show
  • Guest lecturers speaking on politics, religion and worldly experiences
  • Holiday-themed crafts and buffets
  • Music and theater performances
  • Parents' Weekend and Family Days

The Office of Residence Life

The residence life staff consists of a director of student life, a live-in residence life coordinator, and six resident assistants.

Resident assistants (RAs) are undergraduate students or graduate para-professional staff members living in each of the residential living areas, who maintain the closest and most enduring contact with residents. They work to promote individual growth, develop a sense of community in their living areas, and encourage pride in Mercyhurst North East.

RAs assist in the administrative operation of their individual areas, educate Mercyhurst North East students about the Residence Life policies, provide information about the community and college services, provide opportunities for community service and implement programming for social growth, development and recreation. Upon check-in, each resident will meet his or her RA, and be notified of the appropriate ways to contact him or her with any questions or concerns.
