Am I required to attend New Student Orientation?
Yes. Orientation is required for all new students. 

What happens at New Student Orientation?
You will learn about the various resources and offerings at Mercyhurst North East.  You will receive your fall class schedule and Faculty Advisors will be available to address class schedule questions.  You will also hear about important information from Financial Aid, Student/Residence Life, Police & Safety, Counseling & Wellness, and the Academic Success Center.

What should I do to prepare for orientation?
Refer to the checklist you will receive in the mail from Student Financial Services for more information on what you need to do prior to attending orientation. 

Do I need to stay for the entire orientation?
Yes. Participation in the entire orientation is required.  Please arrange your work, childcare, transportation, or other personal schedules to accommodate the full orientation.  We understand, however, that life happens and sometimes situations arise.  We ask that you communicate those circumstances as much in advance as you can by contacting either your Admissions Counselor or Laurie Baker (

Are children or guests allowed to attend orientation?
Students are allowed to bring two additional guests with them to orientation.  We strongly discourage bringing children as it may be distracting to the orientation session.

What is the attire for orientation?
Orientation activities are casual, so dress appropriately for comfort and the weather!  Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as there will be walking.  Don’t forget a sweater or sweatshirt and umbrella, just in case!

What if I cannot attend any of the orientation dates?
Orientation is a MANDATORY event for all new students at Mercyhurst North East.  If you have any special circumstances that would prevent you from participating, please contact Laurie Baker at 814-725-6141 or
