Former MNE Grad Signs Pro Baseball Contract in Italy Former Mercyhurst North East baseball player Steve Baldinelli signed a pro baseball contract to play for the Redipuglia Rangers in Italy. Baldinelli,who graduated from MNE in 2006, played for the Saints for two seasons before moving on to play at Niagara University. He finished his career with Purple Eagles last week and immediately signed with Redipuglia. He joined the team this week and is slated to start in right field this weekend for the Rangers. While at Mercyhurst, Baldinelli hit .341 over two years and was tops in slugging percentage both seasons. The power hitting lefty led the Saints in home runs (4) and RBIs (37) his sophomore season.
