Athletic Facilities Hirtzel Field Dedicated on September 19, 1993, Hirtzel Field is the home of the Saint's Baseball team. The left- and right-field lines measure 335 feet from home plate. Straight away to center field extends 400 feet and the power alley ends at 385. Its major league dimensions are not the only perks of the baseball diamond. A two-story press box, locker rooms, coaches offices and clubhouse make the facility one of the finest in the region. The field is named for the late North East, PA, businessman, industrialist and philanthropist, Philip D. Hirtzel, whose legacy in North East was that of quietly financing local students' college studies. |
