Transfer FAQs

What do I need to do to transfer to MNE?
All transfer applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Completed undergraduate admissions application. (There is no application fee if you apply online).
  • Official high school transcripts (regardless of how long you’ve been out of school)
  • Official transcripts from ALL previous colleges and universities (regardless of whether you believe credits will be transferable)
  • ACT or SAT results, if taken (MNE placement test may be required for those with no SAT or ACT scores)

All documents can be submitted to:

Mercyhurst North East
Attn: Admissions
16 W Division Street
North East, PA 16428

What if I’m still currently
enrolled at another college?

Any college coursework currently in progress should be noted on your most recent college transcripts.  College transcripts, even if you don’t feel the credits will transfer to Mercyhurst North East, must be submitted in order for us to follow federal guidelines.
An official final transcript, showing you have successfully completed your most recent college coursework, must be submitted before beginning school at MNE.  In addition, you must be free and clear of all money owed to any other colleges and universities.

What coursework will transfer in to MNE?
The admissions department will carefully evaluate your transcript(s) to determine the number of credits that will transfer to Mercyhurst North East. Because Mercyhurst North East is a two-year college, some courses you’ve successfully completed at other colleges may not transfer into Mercyhurst North East due to the limited number of “liberal arts” classes in our degree requirements.  Other guidelines to consider:

  • Only courses passed with a grade of “C’” or better will be considered for transfer credit
  • Only coursework completed within the last 10 years for transfer credit consideration.
  • Previous science coursework, particularly for nursing and physical therapist assistant degrees, must have been completed within the last 5 years.
  • Appeals can be made on a case by case basis to the academic dean’s office.

When will I be told which classes will transfer in towards my degree requirements?
You can expect at least a preliminary transfer evaluation in writing before having to make your decision on whether to attend Mercyhurst North East or not.  In many situations, we can give you an answer over the phone once we’ve received your transcripts.

Will my classes transfer
to other colleges?

Yes. MNE is fully-accredited and our credits will be accepted by most any college.  Furthermore, due to our special relationship with Mercyhurst College in Erie, there are financial aid perks for attending MNE, and then going onto Mercyhurst College.

Whenever you are considering transferring to another college, you will want to request a transcript from the Mercyhurst North East registrar’s office.  Transferring internally to Mercyhurst College can also be initiated through the MNE registrar’s office.
