Early Childhood Education

Turn your love for children into a rewarding career with an associate degree in early childhood education from Mercyhurst North East. This program will give you the skills and training needed to work in a variety of childcare facilities, including nursery schools, Head Start programs and early intervention programs. You’ll learn how to care for children from birth to age 5 through classroom instruction and hands-on practicum experience in a variety of settings.

If you do decide to go on to get a four-year teaching degree, the credits you earn at MNE will transfer to virtually any college or university, including Mercyhurst’s Erie campus.

Currently, Mercyhurst North East partners with the Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) www.pacca.org in offering the T.E.A.C.H. program to individuals who are currently working in a childcare facility or who are licensed family daycare providers.  This program helps to offset the college tuition textbook expenditures.  Additional information on this program, as well as other sources of financial aid are available by contacting the admissions office.
