If you've always been fascinated with the world of sports, whether it's the game day production of a professional team or the smooth management of local pick-up leagues, a degree in Sport Management from Mercyhurst North East may be the path for you. To fully prepare students for entry-level positions in the sports industry, the Sport Management concentration offers a sequence of courses including accounting, economics, management, marketing, strength and conditioning, first aid, officiating, and topics in professional, collegiate, and recreational athletics.
Our unique Coaching Techniques course covers the fundamentals of coaching (with a focus on youth and interscholastic sports) to prepare you for a coaching position after graduation.
Students get real-world coaching experience in 10 to 15 hours of work alongside actual coaches in the MNE athletics program and have the opportunity to earn 11 certificates from the NFHSA and the PIAA.
The business programs at MNE work as 2+2 programs, which means you can earn your associate degree in two years and then earn your bachelor’s degree in just two more years at Mercyhurst University or another accredited college.
Our grads find employment in personal training, intercollegiate athletics, coaching, community-based sport programs, sport marketing and promotion, and corporate fitness programs.
Grads wishing to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Mercyhurst University’s main campus can apply for our Internal Transfer Scholarship, which awards up to $18,000 based on GPA.
Throughout the coursework, students will have the opportunity to earn ten certifications from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) as well as an officiating certification from the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) if they pass a sport specific exam.
