Mercyhurst North East Partners with Lake View Country Club for Student Learning
This spring culinary students from Mercyhurst North East will be sharpening their knives and their skills at the Lake View Country Club. Mercyhurst North East will partner with the Lake View Country Club to provide student-learning opportunities to the college campus in the food service sector. Students will be trained in a variety of areas including operational procedures, service excellence and restaurant management.
This innovative partnership will provide students the opportunity to train in their field while completing service hours as part of their educational requirements from Mercyhurst North East.
“We feel this is a wonderful opportunity for our students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life situations and gain hands-on experience in their chosen profession,” said Mercyhurst president Dr. Tom Gamble. Dr. Gary Brown elaborates, “The caliber of food and service offered at the Lake View Country Club will provide an exceptional atmosphere of instruction to culinary students looking to advance their talents in fine-dining cuisine.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Mercyhurst North East’s culinary program to enhance our own offerings at the Lake View Country Club,” said John Maleno, president. “To be able to provide a learning platform for Mercyhurst North East students is a new opportunity for us to give back to our local community in a positive way.” Students will thrive in this new role under the supervision of an experienced culinary management team.
Mercyhurst North East has a history of successful collaboration with local businesses. Dr. Brown elaborates, “Any program that enables our students, community and local businesses to profit, is a victory for the North East community. We will continue to seek educational opportunities for our students that not only enhance our educational offerings, but also benefit the community.”
