For not having played in a while, the Saints Alumni hitters were not rusty Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Both teams combined for 18 runs while the Blue team downed the Black team 10-8.

The Black team jumped ahead early when the scored four runs in the first inning, Emily Wickles ('05) highlighted the inning with a bases loaded triple and scored on a RBI by Ellen Callahan.

The Blue team battled back in the bottom half of the first when Rachael Gazica ('05) led off with a home run to deep center. Her teammates Julie Deloe ('03), Brittany Saber ('08), Laurie McKinney ('06), Lindsey Reid ('04), Steph Fincher ('09), and Anita Deloe ('03) all contributed to put up seven runs in the inning.

Pitchers Megan Spellman ('05) and Fincher settled down after that to stop the offense.

The Black team battled back in the fifth, with offensive support by Liz Schnieder ('06), Rachael Pacholke ('06), Callahan, and Spellman.

However, the Blue team put the game away late and held on to a 10-8 final score.

"It's great to see everyone back on campus and playing softball again", said Saints head coach Brian Dewey. "We are so proud of what our program has become here at MNE and these girls all played parts in building the softball program into something special. A lot of great memories were relived today."

The Saints Softball Alumni would also like to congratulate Brandie Benson ('04), who missed today's game to get married.
