New Student Orientation

If you've applied, been accepted, and confirmed your spot in this Fall's class, the last step before starting classes is to attend Mercyhurst North East's New Student Orientation.

Upon receipt of your confirmation deposit, you will be sent an orientation mailing inviting you to an orientation specific to your major.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring anything?

Besides a completed orientation Required Info Sheet, you need only bring a smile, a positive attitude & a dash of patience. You will be supplied with a folder full of important information, so it may be a good idea to bring a writing utensil to take notes.

What if I haven't submitted my ________ (housing contract, verification paperwork, final high school or college transcript)?

Leading up to new student orientation, you will most likely be contacted, either by phone, email or "snail-mail" about any components of your files that are missing. You are welcomed to bring any outstanding items to orientation and drop them off at the check-in table.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes. Lunch will be provided for the student and up to two family members. Additional family members may be charged a fee of roughly $5. Refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

What if I've gone to Mercyhurst or Mercyhurst North East before? Do I really need to go to an orientation again?

Yes. Mercyhurst North East is dynamic place. Forms, offices, rules and resources are always changing. In order for you to have the latest information in many critical areas, you should make it a point to attend orientation.

Will I have time to meet with someone from _____ (admissions, student financial services, housing, academic support, information technology, security)?

Aside from hearing from each department as a group, representatives from each department should be available throughout the day for individual questions. Contact information will also be included in your folder in case you are unable to meet with a specific representative on orienation day.

Will I have a chance to see a room like the one I may be living in?

Optional campus tours will be given towards the end of the orientation day. The resident halls will be a part of the tour.
