How do I apply?

Regardless of which academic program you are interested in, the basic Mercyhurst North East application is used. While paper applications are still accepted, we highly encourage you to apply online. After all, it's FREE and downloads into our system the very next day.

What do I need to do to complete my application?

The basic components of a completed Mercyhurst North East application are:

  • An application- Either submitted online or completed paper application.
  • Official High School Transcripts- Sent from the high school. If you are currently a senior, a transcript with through your junior year will suffice. If you end up attending MNE, we will need your official, final transcript before the start of the MNE school year.
  • Official College Transcripts (if applicable)- If you've attended any college during your academic career, we must have official transcripts from each institution you've attended in order to make an admissions decision. If you are currently enrolled at a college, your latest transcript will suffice, but an updated "final" transcript from that institution is required before the MNE school year begins.
  • Test Scores- A final admissions decision will not be made until we've recieved either your SAT, ACT or MNE Placement Test scores. We use these scores, in conjunction with your high school and college course work, to help determine what level English and math class in which to enroll you. No test scores? No problem. What if I'm interested in the RN, MLT, OTA, PTA or RT programs?

Our more selective programs (see above) require not only a competitive GPA and test score(s), but also previous course work equivalent to high school algebra, biology and chemistry. Don't have one or all of those courses? Call admissions today about the availability of MNE-offered course equivalencies.

Also, in order to participate in the clinicals required for the health-related programs, a physical and criminal background check must be completed.

When will I know if I've been accepted?

Starting in mid-November, and once an application is considered complete, an admissions decision is made and the student is notified of that decision by mail. If you feel as though you have not received a decision in a timely manner, please contact the admissions office to see what may be causing the delay. Spring term decisions are made as quickly as possible once an application for either term and all required components are received.

I've been accepted, now what?

Once you've been accepted, you will need to submit a non-refundable $100 confirmation deposit to the Office of Admissions. Most students wish to have an idea of their anticipated costs for the coming year. At no time will we force you to confirm until you have an idea of your estimated costs after financial aid.

Once you've confirmed, beginning in late May, you will receive a "New Student Confirmation Packet" and be assigned to a "New Student Orientation"- a one day orientation conducted to get you acclimated to MNE, and take care of any outstanding academic or financial aid issues.

I've been referred to MNE by the Erie campus, what do I need to do to enroll at MNE?

Once you've been referred to MNE by the Erie campus, your application will be fowarded to our admissions office. We will make a decision based upon your transcript and test scores. Once you've been accepted, you may attend. Once you've completed at least 24 credits and earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better, you will be permitted to transfer to the Erie campus. There are significant financial aid incentives to complete your associate degree at MNE--up to $12,000 in scholarships!
