Transfer Policies

Transferring to another college can be a frustrating process. The MNE admissions office strives to handle transfer admissions in an efficient and fair way. We do rely on the student to get us transcripts and other application materials in a timely manner. Call (814) 725-6144 to speak with a counselor about any transfer issues you may be having.

Standard Transfer Policies

Students who have previously attended a college or university must accept these transfer regulations to be accepted for certificate or degree programs.

  • Only courses with grades of C or greater are transferable
  • Letter grades and cumulative grade point average do not transfer
  • Science courses more than 3 years old may not transfer in (Program Director's discretion)
  • General coursework more than 10 years old may not transfer in (Program Director's discretion)
  • Transfers from other Registered Nursing or Practical Nursing programs need a letter of good standing from that program's department director
  • Associate degree students may transfer in up to 30 credits, but must complete at least one-half of the major requirements at MNE
  • Credit will generally be granted for courses that are reasonably equivalent in content to existing MNE courses (Program director's discretion)
  • A certificate program student may transfer in up to six credits
  • Transcripts must be sent directly from schools previously attended to the MNE Office of Admissions

A Transfer Credit Evaluation form originates in the admissions office. If a class you thought was going to transfer in is not included on the Transfer Credit Evaluation Form, you may appeal to the Office of Academic Affairs. A course description and copy of the transcript with the course in question is required.

MNE must also review your previous coursework to assure that you have made academic progress for the awarding of PHEAA state grants (if eligible).
