Mercyhurst North East announces its commencement award winners for 2012. Graduation exercises take place on Saturday, May 19, at 1 p.m. in Liguori Fieldhouse.

Class of 2012 is first to graduate from ‘Mercyhurst University’
Commencement Weekend 2012, slated for May 19-20, will witness the graduation of 1,022 students from Mercyhurst University, the first class to graduate since Mercyhurst was granted university status in January. The historic occasion will be marked by three separate ceremonies, including Saturday's 1 p.m. proceedings at North East.

Five faculty promoted at North East
Five members of the faculty at Mercyhurst University – The North East Campus have been promoted to the rank of assistant professor, according to Academic Dean Dr. Thomas Staszewski. Those promoted include Frank Emanuele, M.S.; Stephen Kanicki, M.S.; Laura Merritt, M.S., M.T.; Allison Ollinger-Riefstahl, M.A.; and Beth Ann Sheldon, M.Ed.

Lynch's new book chronicles history of Mercyhurst North East
A new book by former Erie County Executive Judy Lynch, now an assistant professor of history/sociology at Mercyhurst University – The North East Campus, chronicles the history of Mercyhurst North East. "Mercyhurst North East - Building Dreams" can be purchased at both the Erie and North East campus bookstores.

Mercyhurst North East HOSA chapter members take honors at conference
Central Tech junior Oksana Omelchenko took first place in “medical spelling” and Collegiate Academy senior Tiajah Jones won second place honors in “biotechnology” at this year’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) state leadership conference in Lancaster March 5-7.
